Edwin
was born on 29th Oct 1849, and christened on 26th Nov 1849 in Birmingham to
William Holmes and Caroline née Whateley.
In 1871, with his parents having died, he is staying with his brother William, working as a brush maker. He is still a brushmaker in 1881 in Worcester, marrying Sarah Ann Cam "Annie" in December 1884.
In 1891 he is a foreman brushmaker, and in 1901 manager of a brushmaking family, living in Green Place Worcester. Edwin diedpn 9th Mar 1909 at Cole Hill Worcester, and Sarah Ann died 7th January 1925 also at Cole Hill.

1 Ethel Maud Holmes, born December 1885
2 Winifred Annie Holmes "Winnie" born June 1887 and died in April quarter 1964 in Worcester
3 Reginald Edwin Holmes born June 1889 and died on October quarter 1951 in Worcester
Reginald and Winifred were sent ‘care’ parcels by the New York Holmeses, apparently letters were returned after the war.
