Will of Joseph Milton of Warfield 1764 (PCC Will)

 

 

In the name of God Amen

I Joseph Milton of the parish of Warfield in the

county of Berks being sick and weak in body but of sound

mind memory and understanding do make and publish this to

be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following

I give and bequeath unto Mary Milton my dearly beloved wife

whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole

executrix of this my last Will and Testament I do hereby

 

give and bequeath this my copyhold Messuage and

piddle of Land and Tenements and Hereditaments in the aforesaid

parish and every of them (the same being already surrendered

to the use of my last will unto my said wife

from and immediately after my decease for and during

her natural life and after her Decease then I give and

devise the same to my son Joseph Milton and likewise my

Daughter Ann Garroway and all my Money Household Goods

Ffurniture & Stock of everything that belongs to me out of doors

to be equally divided between my said Son and Daughter I

give and bequeath to my Grandson Thomas Milton Son of

Benjamin Milton the sum of five pounds I give and bequeath

to my Granddaughter Mary Milton Daughter of Roger Milton

the Sum of five pounds I give and bequeath to my Grandson

Benjamin Milton son of Roger Milton the Sum of five pounds

and I desire that my said son and daughter to pay the said legacies

to my said Grandchildren in one year after the decease of my

said wife out of my house and lands in the said parish and

I desire my said Executrix to demand all money that is due

to me at the time of my Decease and likewise to pay him

Debts and I desire that my said House may be kept in good

Repair when need requires and to cut the Elm Timber to do

the said Repairs and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke

and disannull all and every other former Testaments Wills

Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any ways before

named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this

and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness

whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth

day of July and in the fourth year of the Reign of our Soveraign

Lord King George the third and in the year of our Lord God

One thousand seven hundred and sixty four Joseph Milton

his mark signed sealed and published and declared by the above

named Joseph Milton a and for his last Will and Testament

in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our

names as Witness thereto in the presence of the said

Testator and in the presence of each other Thomas Lawrence

his mark George Harrisson John Webb

 

 

This Will was proved at London on the ninth day

of October in the year of our Lord One thousand seven

hundred and sixty four before the Worshipful George Harris

Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful George Hay

Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or commissary of the prerogative

Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Mary

Milton Widow the Relict of the said deceased and sole Executrix

Named in the said Will To whom administration was granted

of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said

deceased having been first sworn duly to administer
